Country: Yemen Source: Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Please refer to the attached files. HIGHLIGHTS Precipitation: March 2026 opened Yemen’s Saif rainy season, with a sharp late-month surge to 120–140 mm between the Central Highlands and Southern Uplands. Rainfall anomalies: Widespread, exceptional rainfall caused meteorological wetness and flash floods across coastal and inland areas; Socotra stayed unusually dry. Temperature: Warmer than February, reflecting the shift to rains—cooler in the highlands (15–20°C) and warmer along the coast (25–30°C). Vegetation: Generally strong performance nationwide, with limited coastal stress; cultivated areas remained stable and among the best in recent years. Crop season: No water stress observed during the early farming stages across major agro-ecological zones. Livelihoods and food security: Conditions aided crops, rangelands, and fisheries, but flash floods, erosion, and livestock disease risks disrupted livelihoods and aggravated food insecurity among vulnerable groups.
