| Country: Pakistan Source: World Food Programme Please refer to the attached file. Pakistan | 16 April 2026 A comparative analysis of national average prices for key food items between 26 February (pre-Middle East conflict) and week ending 16th April, indicates a mixed trend with no change in price for staple commodities, but with increases in fresh items such as vegetables, and sharp increase in fuel prices, which has potential implications for households due to increased travel costs to markets. Overall price stability was observed across staple foods, such as an 8% decrease in wheat flour prices driven by improved market availability while cooking oil and gram pulses decreased slightly, reflecting balanced domestic supply‑demand conditions. The cost of a monthly basic food basket (wheat, pulses and oil) was PKR 14,346 per month or PKR 3,587 per week across the country. On top, some additional costs need to be considered for other low-cost items such as vegetables, spices, dairy, and cooking fuel. |
