Country: Ecuador Source: European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations Heavy rainfall has still been affecting most of Ecuador since early January, causing flooding and landslides that have resulted in casualties and widespread damage. As of 22 April, media report one fatality in the Tungurahua province due to flooding, and two missing people in province of Pichincha due to severe weather-related incident, since 16 April. Two people have been injured in a landslide. According to the Ecuadorian Secretariat for Risk Management (SNGR), the death toll from the rainy season reached 17 fatalities by 20 April. A total of 103 370 people have been affected, 270 houses have been destroyed, and 30 933 houses damaged. The most affected provinces are Guayas, Los Ríos, Esmeraldas, and El Oro. Over the next 72 hours, more rainfall is still forecast over most of the country.
