The end of March 2026 marked a major milestone; the conclusion of the Community-Led Innovation Partnership (CLIP). Over the last six years, this partnership between nine organisations has tested and delivered a truly locally led approach to humanitarian action. Across 17 communities in Guatemala, Indonesia, the Philippines, and South Sudan, the CLIP proved that when communities own the innovation process, the results are more relevant, sustainable, and impactful. Localisation as the Driver of Impact The CLIP is more than just a programme; it is a case study for localisation in action. Traditional aid often positions communities as passive recipients, but the CLIP flipped the script: Locally Led: National partners and community teams designed and led every stage, from problem exploration to growth. The Facilitative Shift: International partners took a trust-based facilitative role, providing the space, flexible funding, and technical support for local expertise to flourish. Adaptive Success: By creating an environment where failure is learning, we’ve seen community innovation teams successfully pilot and pivot solutions that address the nuanced realities of their own contexts which is something traditional top-down models often miss. Explore the Catalogue We are excited to share a thematic overview of the 100 community-led innovations supported since 2020. This catalogue is for anyone who wants to explore the exciting outputs of a truly-locally led innovation process. We hope these 100 examples serve as a blueprint and a spark of inspiration for future programmes looking to shift power back those most affected by crises.
