On March 16, 2026, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) adopted resolution 2818 (2026) extending UNAMA’s mandate for three months to allow for a review requested by member states. This review provides an opportunity to take stock of the current UNAMA mandate and propose improvements, including perspectives of the people of Afghanistan. Against this backdrop, the Afghanistan Dialogue and Visioning Process (DVP), a nonpartisan multi-stakeholder initiative housed at the University of Notre Dame’s Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, conducted a series of consultation meetings in April 2026. These consultations engaged representatives of different cohorts of DVP participants from both inside and outside of Afghanistan.
