South Sudan remains at high risk of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) importation following the evolving Bundibugyo Virus Disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda. Preparedness and readiness activities continue under the leadership of the Ministry of Health with support from WHO, Health Cluster partners, and humanitarian actors. Regional Situation Update • The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has reported a cumulative total of 977 suspected EVD cases and 228 suspected deaths. Confirmed deaths - 01 with CFR of 14.3%. • Alerts have been reported from 18 health zones, indicating ongoing geographic spread and heightened surveillance needs. • Travel restrictions imposed within DRC have disrupted sample transportation and movement of critical supplies, posing operational challenges to response efforts. • Humanitarian corridors have been established to facilitate continuity of essential operations and logistical support. • Uganda reported 02 new confirmed Bundibugyo Virus Disease cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 07, including two health workers. Confirmed deaths - 01 with CFR of 14.3%.Point of Entry screening has been activated in 28 locations, with 13,897 travelers screened during the last 24 hours.
