SITUATION OVERVIEW The security situation in Ukraine remains highly volatile. Drone and missile strikes continue to disrupt civilian and humanitarian infrastructure and logistics. In May, multiple security incidents impacted WFP operations and assets, including a missile strike on a WFP-contracted warehouse in Dnipro that caused extensive damage, destroying two storage modules, damaging six trucks, and affecting 1,465 mt of food commodities valued at approximately USD 1.4 million. Additional incidents included damage to a WFP call centre and a drone strike on a clearly marked WFP convoy, underscoring the persistent risks faced by humanitarian personnel and operations, particularly in areas close to the frontline. The Odesa region experienced its first confirmed combined maritime-air attacks, involving unmanned surface vessels (USFs) targeting port infrastructure, elevating the risks to maritime logistics, commercial port operations, and grain export facilities. Due to the deteriorating security conditions and access limitations near the frontline, cooperating partners continue to rely on WFP support for last-mile delivery.
