Country: Democratic Republic of the Congo Sources: Emergency Telecommunications Cluster, Logistics Cluster, World Food Programme Please refer to the attached file. This situation report provides updates on the Ebola Bundibugyo Virus Disease (BVD) Outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). It outlines the planned telecommunications activities of the Logistics & Telecommunications Cluster1 (LTC) to support the ongoing humanitarian response. Summary Points • Telecommunications in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) remain constrained by limited infrastructure, uneven coverage, unreliable power supply, and high operating costs. In Ituri and other Ebola-affected areas, these challenges create critical connectivity gaps that hinder coordination, surveillance, and timely response. • Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has received 150 satellite terminals in Bunia, with LTC Telecoms supporting distribution and installation to strengthen connectivity at priority response sites. Coordinated deployment is essential to ensure equipment is used where needs are greatest. • The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has activated a Disaster Connectivity Map (DCM) campaign for Ituri and surrounding areas, also available on LogIE. The platform provides regularly updated mobile network data, helping identify stable coverage and connectivity gaps to support operations.
