Description On 16 June 2026 at 10:27 WIB, a magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck Central Sulawesi Province at a depth of 10 km. The epicentre was located approximately 42 km southeast of Palu City (1.04°S, 120.23°E). According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake did not have tsunami potential. The shaking was strongly felt in Palu (MMI VI–VII) and Sigi (MMI V–VI), while light to moderate tremors were reported across several areas in Sulawesi, Kalimantan, and Gorontalo. Initial assessments reported damage to two houses, one hotel building, and disruption of road access to the Napu area. As of 12:10 WIB, five aftershocks ranging from magnitude 3.8 to 5.2 had been recorded. No casualties, injuries, or displacement have been reported at the time of writing, and community activities have largely returned to normal. The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Central Sulawesi Chapter has mobilised five personnel to conduct rapid assessments, support evacuation efforts, and coordinate with local authorities and relevant stakeholders.
